Creating LEXI Translate Instances

LEXI Translate is a translation service that you control through EEG Cloud. This document describes creating a new LEXI Translate instance. LEXI Translate instances apply automatic caption translations to iCap access codes and has settings that control the translation. These settings include the source and destination languages and caption services.

Before you Begin

You must have an EEG Cloud account to configure LEXI Translate. If you do not have an account or an active LEXI Translate subscription, contact the EEG sales team at sales@eegent.com or call 516-293-7472, option 2.

Be sure to configure LEXI on your encoder before you use LEXI Translate. See iCap™ Networking and Firewall Requirements for more information. 

 

Creating a New Instance

To create a new LEXI Translate Instance:

  1. Sign in to EEG Cloud with your Cloud Services username and password, and then click LEXI Translate. The LEXI Translate Instances page opens and lists all of your current instances. 

  2. On the LEXI Translate Instances page, click Add New.
  3. Complete the fields in the Create A New LEXI Translate Instance window. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory, and then click Submit. Your new instance displays on the LEXI Translate Instances Page.
    Setting Name Description
    * indicates required fields
    Name *

    Enter a descriptive name for your instance.

    Example: French to Turkish

    Tags

    Add labels to help organize your instances. 

    Enter tags one at a time, and then click the tag's bubble. For example, French


    Note: You must click tag's bubble to add the tag.

    Access Code *

    Enter the iCap access code corresponding to the encoder that receives the translated captions. For more information, see How Do I Create an Access Code?

    Note: Your access code must:

    • be a secondary language Access Code
    • shared with the iCap company EEGASR
    Translate Engine * Provides this access code's translations.
    LEXI Translate Model Models include Do Not Translate and Glossary Lists.
    A Do Not Translate List applies a list of items that the system will not translate, regardless of language.
    Translate Glossary Model Applies a language-pair-specific set of glossary entries (i.e. translate from A to B).
    LEXI Voice

    The voice model to speak the translations for this instance. This item displays additional configuration options:

    • Voice Model
    • Voice Gender
    • Voice *: Select a predefined voice model.

     

    Note: This setting requires an active LEXI Voice subscription.

    Translate From * The instance's input language. Refer to What languages does LEXI Translate Support? for more information.
    Translate To *  The instance's output language. Refer to What languages does LEXI Translate Support? for more information.
    Output mode Select an output mode that aligns with your caption encoder's CC Output Format setting, and the international region where your content will be viewed.
    Inactivity timeout *

    LEXI will terminate if it has not produced output for the selected amount of time. Select None to configure LEXI Translate to never time out.

    Default: 10 minutes.

    Display Style *

    Choose a visual style as captions advance.

    Number of Rows *

    The number of lines of captioning displayed on the screen. Available options are 2, 3, and 4 rows.

    Base Row *

    Select the CTA-608 base/bottom row for captioning. Available options are 2 (top of the screen) through 15 (bottom of the screen)

    Column width

    The number of characters per text line.

    Column indent *

    The number of horizontal characters positions between the margin and the start of text.

    Source CC Service *

    Select the CTA-608 caption channel to acquire captions from. Generally, this is primary language (CC1/S1).

    Use the Source CC Service and Destination Service settings together to choose primary and secondary languages:

    • Primary language (CC1/S1)
    • secondary language (CC3/S2) options.

     

    Note: Source CC Service and Destination Service cannot be the same. 

    Destination Service * 

    Select the CTA-608 caption channel to output captions to. Generally, this is a Secondary language channel (CC2-4/ S2-S6).

     

    Note: Source CC Service and Destination Service cannot be the same. 

    Tone *

    Choose a Formal or Informal spoken tone, to better suit your broadcast.

    All Caps (checkbox)

    Toggles whether your captions are in mixed case (unchecked, default) or all capital letters (checked).
