Yes, you can use a teleprompter with your HD492 as a fallback if your LEXI products become unavailable. To use a teleprompter, connect an RS232 cable from your teleprompter's output to the RS232/P2 port on the HD492 (see image below). Captions will flow from the teleprompter automatically.
Communication with LEXI over the HD492's serial ports always takes priority over other ports. So, once your connection to LEXI becomes available again, your HD492 will switch back to using LEXI for captions.
Note: If you have enabled the HD492's Block on Serial Port feature, your system will not automatically return to receiving captions from LEXI over its serial ports.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues receiving captions from a teleprompter:
- Confirm both ends of the teleprompter's RS232 cable are connected securely.
- Confirm the teleprompter is functioning properly.
- In a browser, access your HD492 web interface, then select Logs from the left toolbar, and then select the most recent Firmware log.
Note: Depending on your local network configuration, you may need to log into the web interface. - Search the logs for
command 'AI p1 1200 7 o' OKto determine if captions are flowing properly. - If you still have issues Submit a Request to our Support team.
