iCap Archives is available to encoder owners or caption service providers with iCap Broadcast Plus accounts. Users with the correct permissions can retrieve a file of iCap captions generated as they ran. You can create archives between any start and end times up to one month from the date of the original transmission. By default, the archives are scenarist closed caption (.scc) files.
A common use of iCap Archives files is repurposing their live caption data for video-on-demand distribution or program re-airing. Since the system generated these archives as the captions originally ran, they contain no corrections to automatically align the captions with your broadcast.
If you plan to use your archive files as captions for future video-on-demand, we recommend modifying them with a third-party tool designed for viewing and editing these files. This gives you an opportunity to ensure they display correctly alongside your broadcast, including timing and other considerations.
