LEXI Viewer (AV610) Display Modes

LEXI Viewer (AV610) offers elaborate controls for positioning and formatting on-screen text, which you can find under Display > Modes on the web portal and the Display Setup menu in the system's front panel LCD.

AV610 groups these settings into four modes, each with individual configuration options that provide basic usage methods. This document describes these modes.

Modes

Caption Decoder

Text displays in a style and position that you configure. The AV610 allows you to configure most aspects of the display.

Scaler

The system scales video to 80% of its original size and displays it on a black background with captions text. You can configure captions to display above or below the scaled video. In this mode, captions displays as two-row roll-up text.

Background Image

In this mode, captions display on a user-supplied image is overlaid over a generated 1080i60 signal. The system determines text position by dividing the picture into rows. The number of rows available is based on the option you select for the Text Size setting. Captions display as four-row roll-up text.

Full Screen

Text starts at the upper left corner of the screen and flows from bottom to top. Word-wrapping breaks long lines into paragraphs and ends paragraphs after four sentences or at the >> speaker-change marker.

Additional Notes

  • Position sets the text's vertical positioning within the caption area, defined by display row.
  • Text Alignment specifies the text's horizontal position within its row. Options are left, center, and right
  • Line spacing (Full Screen mode only) sets the distance between each line of text.
    • Single: Text flows continuously with no additional space between each text line.
    • 1.5: The system adds space equivalent to half height of a line between each line of text.
    • Double: The system adds a full text line-worth of space between each line.
  • Effect: Adds outline or shading to the text. Options are:
    • Outline
    • Shadow-left
    • Shadow-right
  • Many settings offer a Default option, which means the system uses the value specified in upstream caption data.
  • Background, Scaler, and Full Screen modes, which reformat captions as roll-up text, expect input to be roll-up formatted. In these cases, all that changes is the row count. If you send pop-on text to one of these modes, it remains as pop-on.
