Configuring NMOS IS-04 and IS-05 Standards in Alta 2110
Each Alta system is considered a node within the NMOS ecosystem, with each Alta channel considered a Device.
Once the Node Status toggle setting is turned 'On" on the Alta 2110 system's web interface (after navigating to 'System'-➝"NMOS" --➝ Status tabs), Alta uses the NMOS IS-04 Node API to seek out the NMOS registration server via network discovery through DNS search or via static server config, and once discovered, the Alta system registers itself as a node, with also registering all its devices (channels) within that node/Alta system with the registration server (each with a unique ID) in order to establish their connections.
NMOS IS-05 Connection Management API can also be used when enabled, which allows the NMOS control system to dynamically configure/reconfigure the connections for any of a node's (Alta system's) senders/receivers for each of it's active devices (Alta channels), including its audio and ANC receivers, and ANC sender. This is controlled through NMOS PATCH commands over HTTP that contain the relevant data in the form of SDP data. To enable this on the Alta interface, simply select the "Use NMOS IS-05" checkbox within the 'Stream I/O Settings' tab, for any particular Alta channel. When in use, data pushed to the IS-05 API will override any static input/output settings defined within that Alta channel's settings.
Alta 2110 also uses PTP for timing to ensure an accurate network time sync / frame accuracy for each of the 2110 streams being output by Alta and controlled via the NMOS control system.
Additional NMOS Settings and Management within Alta 2110
Within the "NMOS" tab in the Alta 2110 web interface's 'System' section, you can:
- Configure all NMOS Settings for the Alta system within the "Settings" sub-page, including setting the Node Description, unique Node UUID, options for selecting Unicast or multi-cast DNS discovery, and selecting the network interface being used for the node. Please see attached screenshot below for all existing settings on this page.
- Within the "Status" sub-page, other than the aforementioned toggling of Alta's NMOS connection on and off, you can view details on the Alta system's current node and registration status, registration details, as well detailed NMOS logs, which are also available for download.
- Within the 'NMOS Device Explorer' sub-page, you can navigate local Alta's local NMOS tree to view it's active connections between devices within the NMOS registration server, including any live data received and applied through IS-05 PATCH commands.
Additionally, within the 'NMOS' sub-page for each Alta channel, you can view the NMOS Activation Log for such info on whether NMOS is properly receiving activation patches and the correct addresses for the 2110 streams within the Alta channel/device.
