AI-Media released LEXI Local and LEXI DR version 6.1.0 on March 27, 2026. This document provides information about this release and includes instructions for upgrading your LEXI Local or LEXI DR from version 6.0.0 to version 6.1.0.
Before You Begin
If your system is currently on a version earlier than 6.0.0, follow the upgrade steps in Version 6.0.0 Release Notes before continuing.
Highlights
New Features
- Version 6.1.0 adds a profanity filter, which removes objectionable language from your broadcasts' captions. These filters replace unwelcome language with other text (i.e., a more suitable word or nonsense such as *@K!@#$X), or remove it entirely. As of version 6.1.0, profanity filters are available for English, Italian and Spanish.
- We now include a Max Delay setting, which lets you configure the maximum number of seconds between receiving audio input and producing output. Higher values may improve recognition accuracy.
Language Configuration
- This release introduces a dedicated Languages tab within the Settings page, which provides easier language configuration.
- Version 6.1.0 includes many language-processing updates. These changes provide improvements to diarization and other transcription and translation services on LEXI Local and LEXI DR systems.
Improvements
Upgrade Process
- The upgrade process now automatically stops containers that are not associated with instances before installing and processing the update.
- The system now prevents new containers from starting while the system is processing an upgrade.
Access Codes
- You can now filter your system's Access Codes table by device status.
- This version includes improved validation of access code names. This helps prevent the use of invalid characters in these names.
Password Handling
- Clarified and corrected password requirements. Passwords must include:
- Between 7 and 16 characters
- At least one lowercase letter
- At least one uppercase letter
- (Optional) numbers and underscores (_) or dash (-)
- The system now enforces password requirements and returns clear error messages for passwords that do not meet these requirements.
Docker Safety
The system now disables advanced features if the language pack version is earlier than version 14.8.0. See Upgrade Instructions for information about upgrading your language pack.
iCap Devices Page
- This release enhances the devices table to allow you to filter by multiple instances at once.
- Each LEXI instance now links directly to its single‑instance page.
Error and Warning Messages
LEXI Local and LEXI DR now provide website and API error messages that are more descriptive and actionable than previous messages.
Instances and Topic Models
- This update improves general reliability when creating instances and topic models, and returns clear error messages when new instances and topic models do not meet the naming requirements. Names must include:
- Between 3 and 16 characters
- At least one lowercase letter
- At least one uppercase letter
- (Optional) numbers and underscores (_) or dash (-)
- We now have guards in place to prevent editing a topic model that is in use by any running instance.
Cloud Services
Version 6.1.0 introduces a cloud-monitoring feature to LEXI DR, which automatically stops local events when the system or a user cancels a related, scheduled event in the cloud. As of version 6.1.0, this feature is available for LEXI DR systems only.
Resolved Issues
- This update resolves a defect that caused users to receive errors when restoring a backup created on one LEXI Local system onto another system. Users can now restore backups on systems other than the one where they created the backup, as long as the system version matches on both systems (e.g., both systems run version 6.1.0).
- We have corrected a situation that caused a Topic Model to remain active after changing the instance’s language.
- GPU issues:
- This release fixes an error that prevented turning off an instance if its GPU container was not running but expected.
- We have also fixed an issue that allowed users to change the system's Primary Language with no languages installed.
- Earlier releases contained a defect that caused the Transcript Download window to close on its own, without prompting from the user. This situation no longer occurs.
- We have resolved addressing conflicts that arose when the default Docker bridge overlapped with a custom network.
- Some users reported Gateway Timeout errors when downloading log files. This release corrects that issue. Users can now download log files normally.
Upgrading to Version 6.1.0
This upgrade brings any LEXI Local or LEXI DR currently running software version 6.0.0 to version 6.1.0, with all the latest changes. All user settings and logs remain untouched and accessible after the upgrade completes.
Recommendations
- Since version 5.2.0, LEXI Local users have been able to choose a primary language. This feature uses the system's GPU (graphics processing unit) for preferential processing and enhanced transcription accuracy when multiple LEXI instances use different languages. To use these features, LEXI Local users must install GPU image files, as described in Choosing a GPU Image (LEXI Local Users Only).

The total upgrade time varies depending on your system scenario and needs. Please schedule the upgrade for a time that is convenient for your site’s operations. More information is in Upgrade Instructions.
Note: The upgrade times for systems with Internet access may vary depending on network throughput and other related factors.
LEXI Local users: These time estimates include installation of all languages and GPU images. To reduce the time required for the full upgrade, only install the GPU language files that you need for your setup.
System Type Maximum Required Installation Time, Including All Languages and GPU Images LEXI Local with Internet access 140 minutes / 2 hours, 20 minutes LEXI Local without Internet access 300 minutes / 5 hours LEXI DR with Internet access 40 minutes LEXI DR without Internet access 100 minutes / 1 hour, 40 minutes - Do not shut down the system while the upgrade is in progress. This could result in a software failure and leave your system unusable.
- Stop all running instances before starting the upgrade. Do not apply the update if there are any instances running.
- Ignore any Fail to Fetch messages that display on the web interface.
- The update progress bar may display Service Unavailable when the upgrade reaches 43%. The upgrade itself is successful despite the incorrect status message.
- Ignore any messages that display on the system's LCD screen.
- Be aware that the system reboots on its own as it progresses through the upgrade. This is normal and expected.
- After the system reboots, perform a hard refresh of your web browser. Otherwise, your LEXI Local or LEXI DR may not display the latest changes, which could impede the update process. To hard refresh:
- Google Chrome: press Ctrl+F5 (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac).
- Safari (Mac only): press Opt+Cmd+E, and then press Cmd+R.
- Microsoft Edge / Internet Explorer (Windows only): press Ctrl+F5.
- Firefox: press Ctrl+F5 (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac).
Pre-Installation Notes
- You must download and install an updated Language Pack. Using a version 6.1.0 system with outdated languages may cause some features to malfunction, or block access to all features. The Upgrade Instructions provide links to download the following languages: English, Spanish, French and German.
- Before upgrading your system, change all active instances to use English, Spanish, French or German. If your system does not have any of those languages, please contact AI-Media Technical Support to receive further information or to receive a Language Pack that contains the additional languages you need.
- LEXI DR Users only: The upgrade process removes all synced events from your system. Your DR will automatically resync these events when it restarts following the upgrade. Until the sync is complete, your calendar may not display all events.
