Web Interface Version 4.0.1 Release Notes

AI-Media released Alta Web v4.0.1 on February 13, 2026. This update includes:

New and Updated Features

User Interface

  • This release brings a modernized web interface to Alta virtual encoders. This update provides customers with a clearer visual experience when working with Alta.
  • The user interface also increases the speed at which we add new features, improve existing aspects of our virtual encoder products, and respond to customer update requests.

User Management

This update improves and adds new user management tools including:

  • Adding and removing Alta users: previously each company had one Alta login. Now you can add multiple users with their own logins and passwords.
  • Managing users' passwords: Each user has their own password that other users associated with the company can modify, for example if a user loses their password and is locked out of their account.
  • Assigning roles to your Alta users: You can define roles and assign them to your account's users.
  • We have improved user authorization security by adding API key support.
Note: Alta will continue to support basic authentication.

API Updates

This update includes a variety of enhancements to the Alta API, including:

  • API endpoints are now versioned, which allows you to tailor your scripts to target specific endpoint prefixes. However, Alta maintains backward-compatibility with pre-existing endpoints to ensure scripts and other automation tools continue to function normally.
  • Overall validation improvements.
  • Improved HTTP request return code use
  • SwaggerUI
    • Interactive endpoint coverage
    • Legacy endpoint mapping PDF download and inline tool tips
  • CORS support
  • HTTP/2 and SSE2 support to expand the number of browser connections allowed, and prevent browsers from locking up when you have many open tabs.
  • User database and basic roles improvements and updates.
  • We have also completed a number of corrections to issues known to exist from prior versions.

Other Updates

  • We have added a new Channel Trigger page. This gives users the ability to send triggers to LEXI, CC Encoder and SCTE-104 in real-time to a running Alta channel.
  • Users can now add their own custom routes to Alta, which allows complex network routing on networks that have multiple gateways. This gives you another method for tuning your Alta service to best serve your needs.
  • This update adds SSL/HTTPS support, providing you with secure access to Alta using an SSL certificate that you generate through Alta's built-in tools or an external certificate that you import. Alta uses standard HTTP by default.
  • Alta 2110 only: This release adds a NMOS Activation Patcher feature. This allows users to easily create and send NMOS activation patches to available NMOS sender and receiver devices directly within our NMOS Explorer page. In this way, users receive immediate feedback and activation status changes for each device.
  • Alta TS only: This update allows you to enable or disable input FEC. Previously, FEC was enabled at all times, with no option to disable it.

Upgrade Instructions

Notes

  • This update is available and applicable for Alta virtual encoders regardless of their current software version.
  • If your system is running an earlier version and you encounter any problems during the upgrade process, submit a case to AI-Media's support team.
  • This upgrade is distributed as a .deb file of approximately 45 MB. Be sure your workstation has enough free space before you download the update file.
  • The upgrade process takes approximately 5 minutes to complete, depending on network, server and other related considerations. The update process stops all running Alta channels. Be sure to schedule this update for a time that is suitable for your company.
  • Do not navigate away from the System Update page until the entire update is complete. If you navigate away from the update page, you will need to restart the update process.
